After the completion of ALL 6 phases of Food Relief Activities we still had some Amount left over from the Fund collected, from all benevolent individuals and Organizations. Though we had initiated other projects , we did not want the balance from this Fund to be utilized for any other project other than for providing relief for flood affected
On getting requests, we checked , verified and narrowed down to few genuine cases and decided to donate some portion to them, based on need
One such case was the deserving family of Mr VT Abraham a deaf and dumb victim of 2018 Floods , residing at Chathenkery , Kuttanadu still struggling to get back to normalcy after flood.
The second case is that of Mr Ponnappan, a resident of Veliyanadu Village. He and his family with 3 children had a house in the middle of paddy fields that got damaged in the flood of 2018.
SEWA executives Mr Chandrachoodan, Mr Venugopal , Mr Hashim amd Mr Thomas Joseph invited Mr VT Abraham to Puthuppally and a Cheque for Rs 1’00’000 was donated to him, at the hands of Former chief Minister Oomen Chandy on 19/05/2019
Our Sewa member Mr MK Balakrishnan whole-heartedly donated land which he owned at Veliyanadu Village to Mr Ponnappan, and helped him to secure financial assistance from Govt for construction of the house . As this amount was in-sufficient for building a proper house, NITCAA USA Chapter under leadership of Mr Thomas Joseph agreed to chip in and provide Rs 50000 from the balance fund collected for 2018 flood relief. The roofing work is being funded by SEWA Volunteers aptly validating the proverb that little drops of water make the mighty ocean . On our part we are happy that we could provide home to one who lost his house to the floods last Onam , is now getting a new home prior to the next Onam .

Our Members Mr Venugopal and Mr Padmaraj handed over cheque of Rs.50,000/- to Mr Ponnappan ( for purchase of materials f and construction of roof) from the flood relief fund on 6th Dec 2019.
